About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Behold the Power of Juvederm

We had an anti-aging event at the spa recently, where the La Papillon Beauty Team & our Diva of Dermatology, Dr. Noelle Sherber answered questions & even had live demonstrations. Our patient & model for filler was an active mom in her late thirties that had started to see the lines around her mouth becoming more prominent. Even when not smiling, her smile lines or nasal labial folds were apparent. There was a 'parentheses' like effect around her mouth.
Dr. Sherber first injected a syringe of Juvederm Ultra Plus XC into each of the nasal labial lines around her mouth after the patient had topical numbing cream on for about 30 minutes. Juvederm comes in two different consistencies: Juvederm Ultra is softer & is often used in or around the lip area to add fullness. Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a little thicker & is used when more correction is needed for deeper lines. Ultra Plus XC is a new version premixed with lidocaine for optimum comfort. Often one side of a person's face is more 'active' or emotive than the other{refer to 'before' photo}. For this reason, Dr. Sherber then layered a single syringe of Juvederm Ultra on the patient's right side to create a symmetrical look. Here the patient is immediately after the injections.
Here she is 5 minutes later, with a little bit of mineral powder to even out her skin tone. She looks refreshed, lifted & completely natural. Our patient absolutely loved her results! Do you have a question about Botox or Juvederm? Feel free to leave it in the comment section & Dr. Sherber will be sure to answer it!

NACE- Uncorked!

Last night I attended my very first Uncorked, an event thrown by the Baltimore Chapter of NACE(National Association of Catering Executives.) The event, which raised funds for Meals on Wheels, featured a 'mystery' themed table top competition. It was a visual feast for the eyes wherever I looked!
I met the adorable Ashley from Up Dos For I Dos & we became fast friends. I spotted her cute hair & knew she had to be in the industry. I can't wait for her to do my hair!

We were so excited that one of our favorite florists, Crimson & Clover, won the Most Creative Table Design Award for their Bigfoot themed table.

The chicest of chic- stylist extraordinaire, Stephanie Bradshaw in front of her creation. I heart her turquoise earrings- that girl knows how to accessorize!
She whipped up her Pink Panther themed table & had cute little touches everywhere! Notice the spy glass highlighting the night's menu!
Her table was a confection of pink! It was a girly girl's dream complete with fluffy cupcakes from Caroline's Cupcakery.
I grew up watching Murder She Wrote every Sunday with my family at dinner. This Cabot Cove themed table was pure nostalgia for me!
When I daydream, it's usually in a tent such as this created by event planner Danielle Couick of EVOKE, LLC. With me drinking champagne, reading US Weekly & being fanned by a hot shirtless man.
The table where I was seated was themed 'Bermuda Triangle." I loved the hydrangeas & note I'm at table #1- duh winning!
Our first course was a divine mango, mozzarella & radicchio salad. I whip things like this up all the time. Um, not really.
The delectable food kept coming & it was great to meet so many different people from all things wedding related! I'm already marking my calender for next year's!

Make-Up Must Have Monday

Here are the 2 products I treated myself to for my birthday from Cle de Peau- the luxurious & quite pricey Japanese make-up line with the funny name. The brand is known for their award winning concealer & just scored Amanda Seyfriend as their new spokesperson. I picked up their Touche de Rouge Lipstick in new shade #130.
This extra silky lipstick is more like a gloss stick that feels like absolute butter on your lips- it is quite heavenly {as it should be for $52!} My shade gives a sheer wash of a peachy nude color & I do really enjoy it every time I put it on!

I bought this new #207 eyeshadow quad, as well. I bought it without the compact so I could pop it straight into my Z Palette (quad alone is $55, compact to house it is an additional $25.) The micro milled shadows give a very soft gleam to the lids, all of the colors are very sheer & luminous with all of the shades being very neutral- even the blue gray.

As you can see they hardly show up on my hand in photos, but layered on top of some shadow primer they have a little more impact. I'm fine with their subtlety since I can use them on a more every day basis & justify the splurge! So tell me beauties, what's the most you've ever splurged on a beauty product & was it worth it?

Palomar Laser & Injectable Event

I love our Dermatology Events, because the impatient girl in me loves the amazingly effective results we can offer patients in such a short period of time. Besides offering injectables such as Botox, Juvederm & Radiesse, today we will also have the Palomar Laser on site. If left alone with that machine for 24 hours, I could be a new woman!
We focus a lot on patients with hyperpigmentation & redness issues in their skin. Though the Palomar Laser can be used for a wide range of concerns including non ablative (not breaking the skin) resurfacing & treating miner spider veins. I struggle with brown spots, so I had the Intense Pulsed Light Treatment for hyperpigmentation. In under 10 minutes my skin was treated, which felt like little rubber band snaps on my face. My skin felt a little chapped in the days following & had a 'peppering' effect, where my hyperpigmentation was darker for a few days before those spots sloughed off.
Voila! In this follow up picture (with mineral foundation & bronzer applied) you can see how much the laser evened out my skin tone. It's a fabulously results oriented treatment, if you're not seeing results with topical products & want to see improvement. Can't make it in today to La Papillon? Make sure you check out our website for our next Dermatology Event with Dr. Noelle Sherber. We'll get you gorgeous in no time!

Oh Baby!

What a whirlwind of a week it was! I will be filling all of you in on all of the happenings, I'll start first with co-hosting a baby shower for a dear friend of mine Saturday night!
All things pink as she's having a little girl- adorable sugar cookies.
The long modern table housed simple grasses, with 2 more involved pink arrangements.
Tres Bon Bons cake ball pops were quite the hit as favors.

Mini wine bottles were relabeled as an additional treat for guests to take home!

The mama to be wearing a tiara & holding a copy of Fancy Nancy that we all wrote well wishes in for the new family!

The guest of honor, another co-host & friend Classic C (rocking out fabulous earrings from La Papillon!) & moi celebrating the night away. I'm so excited to meet her baby girl.

CEW Product Demostration

At the moment I am skipping around New York City, all right probably not skipping. More like limping since I'll be trying to be a fashionista & wearing completely inappropriate shoes. But I'll be limping with a smile on my face as it will be a week full of beauty! I'm up for a spa conference, as well as meeting with a cosmetics line about possibly bringing them into the boutique. The icing on the cake? The CEW Product Demonstration Night where I get to look at beauty companies' latest & greatest launches. I will leave with a swag bag full of said products & will go back to my hotel room & roll around in them. Just kidding- but it is like Christams for moi! Add in quality time with friends from the city + good eats + cocktails = one happy girl!

Where's the Beef?

Have you ever opened a bag of potato chips & found the bag to be more full of air than actual chips? Lately, I've been feeling that way about skincare. I find myself thinking a la the Wendy's lady & wanting to exclaim "Where's the beef?" Here's an example, a great serum that I tried recently. In fact, I wanted to make sure I got every last drop so I took it apart. Once I took off the huge pump, it was obvious that I was left with a pretty small portion of the actual product. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any regulations put in place by the FDA to put a halt to the trickery! As long as it's stated that there is for example 1 ounce of product & there is- it can be put in a 3 ounce container. My question is- do you think there should be regulations put in place? Do you find it manipulative? Let me know beauties!
