About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Fabulous Finds Friday

I do love my Tory Burch Miller thongs that I treated myself to for my birthday last year{sporting Essie's Merino Cool polish}. However, they weren't cheap - so I don't traipse around in them if I know it's going to be gross out. I'm headed to a wine festival tomorrow & with all the rain we've had lately, I'd be worried they'd get ruined!

Though not identical copies, these are a pretty similar & super cute version by Soki I spotted at Burlington Coat Factory- coming in at a whooping $7.99! Just think, you could take the $187 you saved & treat yourself to pedicures all summer long! I say just walk quickly & no one will be the wiser! Happy Weekend Beauties.

Files From the Brow Whisperer

This set of brows belongs to yet another gorgeous set of peepers! This high schooler has had past problems with over tweezing, enough so that I staged a tweezer intervention at one point! Since then, she's been great about erring on the side of caution in between visits. But due to a busy semester + sports, she was a bit overdue.

She has rather unruly brows that often have a mind of their own! I trimmed her brows, waxed above the brow to give a groomed appearance, then strengthened her shape below to highlight her striking eyes. Gorgeous!

Make-Up Must Have Monday

You beauties often ask what mascaras I use on my peepers & often it is a 'sandwich' of products. Currently I start with the first 'slice' of bread being L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara, then comes the 'meat'- which is always my beloved Mally Volumizing Mascara, topped with the last 'slice' of bread which at the moment is Revlon's Grow Luscious Mascara.

I do this for a few reasons, first because my skin is so oily{& I loathe waterproof mascaras} that I find certain mascaras transfer less. Those end being the last step in the sandwich. Certain mascaras & their brushes separate & coat each individual lash better- those end up being the first slice in the sandwich. The meat, well Mally's mascara just multiplies the appearance of lashes like none other I've found.
When clients ask me what I recommend mascara wise, I always hesitate because mascara is such a personal preference. The brush is often just as important as the actual product! A staple for most make-up artists is Maybelline's Great Lash, but you will never find that in my kit. I call that brush the 'frozen yogurt swirl' brush & it just doesn't separate lashes enough for me. There is a new concept entering the market though, that just may be on to something. MAC's new Haute & Naughty Lash basically offers 2 different brush experiences in one. By pulling the pink brush out, you have a very good brush at separating & defining your lashes without delivering a lot of product.

You then can add some extra oomph to the outer lashes by pulling the purple sparkly brush which offers considerably more product. One could also use the pink for daytime looks & the purple for night. Definitely an interesting idea, that works very well. I will be curious as to whether all that brush interchanging will dry out the mascara quicker, but as of now- it gets two thumbs up.

Sweet Easter Treats

I heard on the radio the other day that the average American child eats around 8 pounds of chocolate & candy around Easter! I was shocked & then I thought that it sounded about right! Why not put some 'sugar free' treats in your little ones' Easter baskets- prevent those sugar fueled tantrums! These new ice cream bath bombs we just got in the boutique look just like the real thing & are sure to make bath time a blast!
Our classic cupcake bath bombs make anyone from 8 to 80 smile! The bright colors will be sure to distract any little one from noticing there are less jelly beans this Easter.

For the make-up lover {no matter what age, every girl loves some Easter treats!} so I had to include the Beauty Blender! My obsession knows no bounds with this beauty tool. Wet it & stipple on any foundation for a near airbrushed look. The hot pink egg shape is perfectly Easter themed, too!

Last, but not least are our always popular chic buds mini speakers! These tiny one inch cube speakers are perfectly portable & pack a wallop of sound. I always have mine with me- I think live is better with a soundtrack. Any other great 'sugar free' ideas beauties?

Happy Easter!

Becca Beauties

I'm used to seeing Brennan's all natural beauty on a daily basis. As the owner of Baltimore Dog, a busy dog walking service who takes care of my four legged son Bailey, she is usually fresh faced & make-up free. At La Papillon's Becca Beauty Blooms Event she wanted National Artist, Rusty Goff to step up the glam quotient for a party she was attending. They decided on a sexy, sun kissed look that night.

Rusty started with Becca's Radiance Primer & spot concealed with Banana Compact Concealer.
He set that with Becca's Mineral Powder in Bloom. Next up came her gorgeous glow, created with Becca's #1 selling product: Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, which he then topped with mineral bronzer in Duende. Heaps of mascara & Becca's Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Gisella completed her knockout transformation!

Becca Beauties

As I mentioned yesterday, Classic C brought her adorable sister in law with her to La Papillon's Beauty Blooms with Becca Event. Another natural beauty, D lives in California & loves the California 'beachy no make-up, make-up look.' Rusty applied Luminous Skin Color in Cashmere all over, then placed Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal {their #1 selling product} where the sun would naturally hit. He then used Becca's Beach Tint in Grapefruit on her cheeks & lips, then set the look with Becca's Mineral Powder in Bliss. He used Becca's Line & Define in Santorini to, well line & define her eyes, then completed her look with mascara.

Here the gorgeous girls are after their make-up applications, looking radiant & ready to take the town by storm!

Becca Beauties

So our Becca Cosmetics Launch event was a smashing success! All day Saturday La Papillon's VIPs {Very Important Pretties} came in to have National Artist, Rusty Goff work his magic. I though I'd give you a peek behind the scenes. Here's my lovely friend Classic C, she's a busy mom of an active 1 year old who wanted a fresh, natural & easy look.

Rusty started out by prepping her skin with Becca's Mineral Primer with an SPF 30- which is perfect for the summer. He followed with Luminous Skin Colour in Banana & set it with Becca's Mineral Powder in Bliss.
Once he had evened out Classic C's complexion he used Becca's Avalon Palette to add a flush of peach color to her cheeks & softly define her gorgeous blue peepers. This palette is perfect for moms on the go, to have an entire wardrobe of color in one convenient location. A quick swipe of Gisella Sheer Tint Lip Colour & she was ready for her closeup!

Here's Classic C's 'before' pic- even without any make-up, she's a natural beauty who's a dead ringer for Brooklyn Decker! Classic C made a day out of our event event & brought her sister in law, as well. Stay tuned tomorrow for a behind the scenes peek at her glamover!

Z Palette Take Two

I love this palette from Too Faced, however I don't about you gals- but this girl is limited on space! I already have products taking over my bathroom & I've really been working on organization. This bulky compact just isn't ideal for storage.
Enter my second Z Palette! I pulled out the disk holding the shadows.
Wiggled & plucked the pans out of it... which is easier than you think. The company also has step by step tutorials on their website on how to do it.
And easily popped them in my super cute zebra small Z Palette for sleeker storage & I still have room to spare! They're also great if you buy loose pans from MAC or Trish McEvoy. One little step forward in my taming all of my beauty products!

Files from the Brow Whisperer

Oh how I love first timers! They're like a blank canvas- so full of potential! This young teenager had never been waxed, so I wanted to create a groomed, clean brow that would make both her & her mother happy. Baby blond hair above the brow distracted from her eyes & needed to be removed while shaping, trimming & taming needed to be done underneath.
I think it's important with my younger clients, to create an 'age appropriate' brow. This means I usually don't go for a brow like Angelina Jolie's, but rather a softer one that I can enhance over time. For this reason, as well as the fact that my client was extremely fair & this was my first time waxing her- I went with strip wax below & hard wax above the brow. Hard wax is a little gentler on delicate skin, it also creates a softer line in shaping. Voila! A soft, subtle brow perfectly suited for a 12 year old. It made a huge difference in opening her beautiful blue eyes & as she matures we can sharpen her arch. Peace. Love. Brow Whisperer. M
