About Me

My photo
This make-up artist and esthetician has a (bordering on unhealthy) addiction to all things beauty! No amount of eyeshadows or cream liners will ever be enough! I go giddy for all things girly. Lipgloss might not be able to heal the world, but it can lift a gal's spirits!

Kerastase Cristaliste

When packing for my travels abroad I reached for Kerastase's Cristalliste line to take with me. I had initially thought the formulation meant to enhance shine might be too much for my fine hair, but it's not. Yes it's smoothing, but never heavy. It has been a frizz fighting savior of mine as I traveled in humid Santorini, Greece & now Istanbul. I must also mention that I find the packaging to die for!

Kisses for Aquaphor

Alright I'll admit, Aquaphor doesn't seem like the most riviting of beauty products out there. But out to dinner one night with a dermatologist, plastic surgeon & yours truly- an esthetician- guess what we all pulled out of our bags or blazers? Yup, Aquaphor.  It has been my go to for over a decade whenever my pucker is parched from over doing it with lipgloss.

So imagine my excitement when Aquaphor FINALLY launched a slanted tip for easy application! I used the flat tip anyway on my lips, but it often created a bit of a mess. It's the simplest of changes, but for Aquarphor addicts- rejoice! They also launched a version complete with SPF 30, ideal for while I'm traveling abroad & I'm outside a lot.  We often neglect our lips when it comes to SPF- but now I'll be covered!

Red Hot Lips

I have been so busy since I got back from NYC that I haven't even told you guys about Lucky FABB- which was amazing. I promise I'll give you all the deets soon! So many stylish women were there, but Aliza Licht, better known as @DKNY PR Girl made a big impact on me. PS(ha ha) @PSIMadeThis, also known as Erica Domesek is sitting on the right. Besides wearing a stunning one sleeved DKNY(of course!) frock, she sported the most striking red hair that I now daydream about being a redhead! Since I'm maybe not that brazen yet, I opted to go with her fabulous red lipstick.
Others at the conference were just as smitten as moi with the hue. When asked on twitter, she responded that the color was Maybelline's Red Revival #645. Since she oozes luxury, I would have expected Dior or even Chanel, but nope- a great lipstick for right around $7. Score!
In honor of the fact that I'm seeing another fabulous redhead (whose signature lip color is also red) perform tonight, the haunting Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine- I thought I'd share this shade with my girls. FYI it's also moisturizing enough to leave a nice stain as it wears off, without it looking like a hot mess.
So a big 'mwah' to the ladies who helped me step out of my comfort zone & reach for red. This shade is perfect for lazy Sundays when I don't want to put a lot of make-up on. A classic red such as this & a fabulous pair of sunglasses & I'm pretty much good to go!

Revlon Colorstay Mascara

I'm a big fan of Revlon's Colorstay family of products. Their eyeshadows rock, in fact I wish they'd launch more colors! Always in search of a mascara that doesn't end up making me look like like I'm on the football team, I picked up their new Colorstay Overtime Masacara.
Below I am sporting the mascara at the beginning of the day, which had a nice brush & smooth application.  I put more coats on the top lashes & less on the lower lashes.
Here's my mascara at the end of a busy day that involved yard work in muggy 90 degree weather, getting a massage (complete with my faced smushed into a face rest for an hour) & getting caught in a rain storm. I was pretty impressed it wasn't all over my face.
When I say, it stays on- it stays on. Here's a shot after cleansing my face twice in the shower & using my Almay Oil Free Make-Up Remover Pads & there's still mascara on my lashes! Thank goodness I had some Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil on hand or I would have been sleeping with it on!  This mascara doesn't list that it's waterproof on the package- but it pretty much is all things resistant! The only reason I'll continue my never ending quest in finding that perfect stay put mascara, is that I don't love mascaras that are so hard to get off it puts my actual lashes in jeopardy! If you use Lancome's BiFacil Remover- I'm sure you'll be good to go.

Files From The Brow Whisperer

I love when clients discover me through word of mouth- even better yet from this blog feature!  Regulars say it's one of their favorite segments on Peace Love Lipgloss. This first time client had been frustrated with getting threaded & felt her shape was too rounded. She wanted a cleaner look & had seen my befores & afters on the blog.
I felt like there was a little too much bulk towards the end of the brow. I streamlined both above & below the brow with wax for a more defined classic arch. A quick tutorial on brow powder to help strengthen her new shape had her exclaiming, "This is exactly what I wanted!"  This girl never tires of hearing that!

Oh Honey

I do a hair mask every Sunday. It's my routine & just as with skincare I tell my clients whatever their regimen is, be consistent.  When it comes to my hair, I try & nourish it because- well it's not as young as it used to be. Yes, hair ages. Styling & pulling it back in ponytails for work has caused more damage than I'd like to admit.  This Honey I'm Strong hair mask from Herbal Essences has been rocking my world, as of late.
Alright so it kind of looks like banana pudding in an odd way.  I also am particular about 'honey' scented things. You work in a salon long enough that uses honey almond scented products in their pedicures & you associate that smell with feet, but I digress.  The scent is mild & fresh & the mask glides on the hair. I've been combing it through in the shower & leaving it on while I shave my legs. So did I mention the detangling?!? Tangles are my biggest struggle with long hair & what I feel leads to more breakage for me when combing or brushing my hair. This mask detangles & smooths your hair like a dream. There's even the added benefit that the mask is supposed to strengthen your hair.  Herbal Essences is a line that I call cheap & cheerful- with this mask you get a ton of great product, at a great price.  So Honey I suggest you go out & get some!

Lucky FABB 2012

Morning Beauties! As you read this I am attending this 'fab' conference in NYC. Hundreds of Fashion & Beauty Bloggers will be convening to hone our craft, while listening to a bevy of amazingly talented speakers. Here's a peek at just 2!
I die. Seriously- I've watched the Rachel Zoe Project for the past two seasons on Bravo & am lucky enough to be hearing her speak & see what she's wearing;) She is truly a genius.
I feel like I've grown up with LC since her days on The Hills, which was such a guilty pleasure of mine. Lauren Conrad has shown that she has staying power & built quite a little empire for herself at the ripe old age of 25. Plus she's a kindred spirit in that she loves her cat eye liner. I'll be live tweeting during the conference- so make sure to check back throughout the day!

Peace. Love. Lipgloss.

Dalton Nude Lip Wardrobe

I need to stop watching QVC Beauty shows. Who am I kidding thinking I can just watch to keep informed on the latest launches? Nope, one mention of a nude lip anything & I'm hurrying in from the kitchen to buy it. If you're a regular reader of mine you know my obsession with the perfect nude lip goes way back. It all started with Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy the Vampire Slayer- her gloss on that show was sheer perfection. Many years later, I'm still always trying to find the perfect concoction.
This is the Dalton Nude Lip Wardrobe which is available only on QVC (& it's on sale at the moment- um I didn't get it on sale!) From top to bottom: Baby Doll Lipstick, French Beige Lipstick, Bella Lipgloss & Buff Lipgloss.
Hyaluronic Spheres & Collagen Peptides in the formulas provide both moisturizing & anti-aging benefits. Added features are the clear tops on the lipsticks to see which lipstick shade you're reaching for & break apart connectors. That comes in handy since these pieces are just a smidge bulky- but that means you get a lot of product. The doe foot lipgloss applicator also is large & dispenses quite a bit of product on the first swipe.
I always say you can never have enough wine, chocolate or lipgloss in your life. This quad offers some lovely options to build different creations with.  It's hard to see how lovely these glosses look both in the container & on. I thought this collection was a steal of a deal at $25, now with it being on sale- I say it's a no brainer!

Peace. Love. Lipgloss.
